Coach Johnston brings a new look to the spread offense he calls 'The Next Generation.' He begins by diagramming the alignment that is the basis of this exciting new attack. The most notable changes have been to incorporate the QB into the running game (making him a double threat) and shift the HB over to slot and then put him in motion into trips formation. An effective running option out of the Shot Wing is the Jet Sweep, diagrammed and shown on video by Johnston. Alignment, assignments and blocking schemes are all covered on the marker board. The Pop pass, Halfback Sweep and Quick Fire series are diagrammed features of the attack. Also covered is the motion series, which is a great attack with a running QB because of the multiple options presented.
