UCF Option Offense 2-Pack
FD-03884A: with Brent Key,
University of Central Florida Offensive Line Coach,
2010 Conference USA Champions

Brent Key gives a detailed presentation on the "Wild Knight" Wildcat offensive package that helped the 2010 UCF Knights win 11 games and capture the Conference USA Championship.

UCF's Wildcat package will provide your team with a framework to:

  • Get the ball in the hands of your playmakers.
  • Gain an advantage by having an extra blocker.
  • Develop your QB run game off of other base plays in your offense.
  • Force opponents to spend valuable practice time preparing to defend an irregular offensive package that is relatively easy to install.
Coach Key shows the base formation in their Wildcat series and describes the desired player attributes for each position. He uses diagrams and game footage to explain the coaching points for all the plays in the package including:
  • Jet Sweep
  • Inside Zone
  • Power
  • Play-Action Passes
  • Gadget Plays
  • Key explains how the Jet Sweep is used to set up all of the other plays in the series. Key uses game footage to explain how his Wild Knight offense attacks a variety of defensive looks and how they use the complimentary plays in the package to provide answers to the different defensive responses.

    In addition, Key demonstrates how to execute the passing game and gadget plays out of the Wildcat.

    This video offers a unique and easy to install series that can be used to enhance any style of offense. The Wild Knight package will help your team keep defenses off balance while using a low-risk approach to getting the football in the hands of your best athletes.

    53 minutes. 2011.

    FD-03884B: with Charlie Taaffe,
    University of Central Florida Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach;
    2010 Conference USA Champs

    Create confusion for the defense by utilizing a variety of formations and option looks.

    Calling on his 40 years of experience coaching option offense, Charlie Taaffe gives you an 80 minute graduate course clinic on how to run the option offense from multiple modern offensive formations (Gun, Spread, Pistol) with one back or two. This Zone Read Option Offense system is relevant for any offense wanting to add an option package to the playbook.

    In a classroom setting, Coach Taaffe diagrams how to run the Zone Read versus different defensive looks. He gives you simple rules for your quarterback to identify the dive and pitch keys to help them prepare prior to the snap. Taaffe explains the option ride to decide steps within the QB and RB mesh so both create better fakes and protect the ball during this decision phase. He reviews the QB's dive and pitch decision process along with the spacing requirements of your pitch backs so the RBs maintain proper spacing during the option.

    You'll also get diagrams showing the simple zone blocking rules for blocking the option plays so your linemen know who to block and who to leave alone for the option read.

    Not only does Coach Taaffe go over the double option, but he also goes into detail about running the triple option with a pitch and/or a play action pass or bubble screen. He draws up many of the Zone Read Option concepts in Gun, Spread and Pistol formations and conducts film study from game footage that covers three different angles.

    You will feel like you are in the classroom while watching this master of the option offense. Order now and watch how Coach Taaffe's Principles of the Zone Read Option Offense can develop or improve your offense.

    The Flexbone Option Offense 2-Pack
    FD-03780A: with Aaron Hafner,
    William Penn University Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach;
    2010 Midwest League Champions;
    2008 Midwest League Assistant Coach of the Year

    William Penn has excelled in running the football by using the flexbone option offense. In 2010, the Statemen set the NAIA single season record for rushing yards (4,476) and yards per rush (6.9).

    In this DVD, Aaron Hafner shows you don't have to have the biggest offensive lineman or an electric wide receiver to rack up yards when running this spread option offense. Coach Hafner teaches you how to attack any defense using the flexbone option. With this Georgia Tech-style offense, you can use multiple personnel, motions and formations to stress the defense.

    Hafner provides a detailed, position-by-position breakdown of the footwork, reads and blocking assignments for the five key plays in this spread option offense: Midline Option, the A gap play; the Inside Veer, the B gap play; the Outside Veer, the C gap play; the Counter Option, the D gap with the counter option; and the edge with the rocket sweep.

    Hafner talks through wide and end zone game clips of the spread option run game pointing out key coaching points and techniques to make this offense successful.

    Learn how to block these plays versus 50 fronts, 3-3 fronts and any other looks the defense may give you.

    This offense gives you the ability to make your best athletes a threat on every play and gives you a "small playbook" with many options off of each play!

    147 minutes. 2011.

    FD-03780B: with Todd Hafner,
    William Penn University Head Coach;
    2010 Midwest League Champions;
    2x Midwest League Coach of the Year (2010, '08)

    Every good option game needs a passing scheme to compliment it . Todd Hafner coaches you through video cut ups on how to best attack the defense with the spread option passing attack.

    This passing system is simple to allow you more time to develop your run game. The reads for the quarterback and blocking assignments for the line are made easy. Coach Hafner details the philosophy behind each play, as well as a position-by-position break down on footwork, reads, assignments and protections for each concept.

    You will see three main concepts in the William Penn passing game:

    • Quick Game - A great way to beat the blitz with the passing game using a 3-step drop with quick breaking routes. The quick read allows the QB to make a throw before the defender can read the pass. Works anywhere on the field - even the red zone.
    • Play Action Pass - See two options based on the Inside veer action: inside veer drop back and inside veer sprint out. This action opens the entire field open for the receivers to stretch the field. The sprint out option gives you a quick option to pick on bailing corners or a deep attack for aggressive corners.
    • Sprint Out - A true sprint out from the center gets the QB to the edge two receiver route. This scheme gives you an option if you are down late in a game or in 2-minute situations. Provides easy reads for your QB because the key reads are all on one half of the field.
    If you run the flexbone option this passing game is a must to compliment the five run plays that you utilize. Coach Hafner does a wonderful job presenting this information in a manner that is easy to understand and could be installed in your offense immediately at any level.

    Join Texas' Spring High School Head Coach Sonny Karas and his offensive coordinator as they lead you through their elements of a running game that has helped lead the Spring High School offense to a top 10 ranking in the greater Houston area for 10 consecutive years. Coach Karas shares with you three basic running plays, starting with his A-gap tight zone play. This tight zone play can also be turned into an option as well. As defenses adjust to the tight zone, Karas instructs you to switch to the C-gap wide zone play. In this play, the running back will cross the quarterback and read the outside defender and decide to "bang" straight up or "bounce" to the outside. Karas also shares an option variation, including a quarterback read version of this play. The last play that Karas covers is his 36 Dart play. In this play, the weakside tackle pulls and becomes a lead blocker for the running back. Karas diagrams variations and blocking assignments on a white board for all three plays and also includes game footage that demonstrates the alternatives of each play.
