Free Release and Quick Passing Game
with Billy Lynch,
University of Indiana Receivers Coach

Coach Lynch's expertise is responsible for 3,073 team yards through the air in 2007, an all-time Hoosier best. In this DVD, Lynch demonstrates his potent Free Release and Quick Passing games using PowerPoint and game tape. The Free Release system features base routes from different formations and personnel groupings. Lynch reveals three base protections that give this offense flexibility and keeps the defense off balance. A major feature of each route is the built in read-and-reacts to blitzes. The Quick Passing game is a simple concept that forces the defense to react on the snap. Each reaction is countered by diverted routes for each receiver. Lynch shares seven basic routes that add flexibility and puts extreme pressure on defensive backs. These routes are executed in a number of formations and each route has a counter to the blitz. Benefits of the quick game are protection, playmaker possessions and a high completion rate with low risk and are a great deterrent to the blitz. These two passing systems will give your offense flexibility and multiple options for throwing the football.

Converting on Third Down: A System to Move the Chains
with Paul Chryst,
University of Wisconsin Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach

Winning football games depends many times on 3rd down success. Coach Chryst unpacks the Wisconsin approach to moving the ball on third down in this lecture presentation. Chryst discusses Wisconsin's various third down packages that are classified by personnel groups, by pass pattern concepts (same plays, but different looks) and formation. Game preparation is a vital key to gain key third downs. Chryst discusses the importance of adjusting your packages according to the opponent's pressure, coverage, or your "change-up" concept. Key factors that affect the defensive plan are down and distance, personnel groupings, field position and the score and rhythm of the game. To show the philosophy in action, Chryst breaks down game footage to show how different third down packages were successful. Consistently converting on third down will keep your defense off the field and move the ball to the end zone.

Cover: summer and in-season strength programs for football
Summer and In-Season Strength Programs for Football
with John Dettmann,
University of Wisconsin Head Strength and Conditioning Coach (Football);
Director of Strength and Conditioning for the University of Wisconsin Department of Athletics

During Coach Dettmann's extensive career at the University of Wisconsin, the Badgers have played in bowl games nearly every season. An element of the Badgers' success has been their strength and conditioning program. This DVD provides a comprehensive look at the Badger's summer and in-season strength programs for two-deep and developmental athletes. Dettmann's in-season program provides considerations for creating your strength-training program and how you might adapt it to a changing roster each year. He outlines the philosophy and objectives behind the program, which builds strength, hand speed, grip strength, increase flexibility and restore function to athletes who play a lot on game day. Dettmann provides demonstrations for the developmental players-the athletes who are not in the two-deeps to help develop a foundation for the younger players and have them game-ready if they are called upon. Dettmann's summer program focuses on body bending, lifting, reactionary movement and changes of direction. The program's final phase introduces football-specific work to become camp ready, and includes three days of position-specific conditioning. This approach builds leadership and team building. To further clarify both programs, Dettman shows video of each lift, exercise, movement, drill and position work.

Sonny Dykes: Play Action Passing System
with "Passing attack specialist" Sonny Dykes,
University of Arizona Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach

Sonny Dykes, known throughout the country as "the passing attack specialist", has made a transition into the play action passing attack at the University of Arizona. Adding running plays to the package that are simple and prepare the defense helps build a pass action game. Dykes' five play approach takes the best pass concepts available to build a strong play action attack. Dykes diagrams the wide cross as an example. Other keys to this system are developing plays to your personnel, playing to strengths and practicing situations. The reverse is another part of the play action package. Double reverse actions keep the defense off balance and helps set up the reverse action.

Cover: applying pressure with 3-deep zone blitzes
Applying Pressure with 3-Deep Zone Blitzes
with Dave Doeren,
University of Wisconsin Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach;
Led the nation is passing efficiency defense in 2006

Coach Doeren brings Big 10 experience and an effective pass defense to this DVD on zone blitzes or "pressures." In 2006, Wisconsin's defense led the nation in pass efficiency defense (84.19 rating) and finished second in passing yards allowed per game (138.3) and scoring defense (12.1 ppg). UW also was No. 5 nationally in total defense, allowing just 253.1 yards per contest. The primary goal of Doeren's pressure system is to exert equal zone pressure on the run and the pass. Planning practice is an important part of building a strong defense, and Doeren lays out his spring practice calendar breaking down drills, conditioning and meetings. Doeren's 3 deep/3 under package features the blitz and helps makes up for defensive deficiencies. These pressures are multi-purpose, can fit off of protection schemes and the option, adjust out to any formation and are good run and pass blitzes. Doeren also shares key coaching adjustments that help maintain game productivity. He illustrates multiple pressure techniques using video footage. This pressure package can force turnovers and add the element of surprise to your defense.
