Keith Dambrot: Fundamental Drills that Build Champions
with Keith Dambrot,
University of Akron Head Coach;
seven straight 20+ win seasons (2005-2012);
former St. Vincent-St. Mary (OH) High School Head Coach; won back to back State Championships while coaching Lebron James

Eliminate wasted practice time by picking up the pace of your practices!

Keith Dambrot shares the same practice drills he used while coaching Lebron James and winning back-to-back high school state championships. Now, after seven straight 20+ win seasons at Akron, Coach Dambrot conducts this on-court clinic to demonstrate his high tempo--get after it--practice drills.

Defensively, Coach Dambrot shows the drills he uses to start his practice that loosen up his team. These drills teach closing out, denying the wing, fronting the post, help-and-recover, and digging the post. He shows how to defend the down screen, flare screen, back screen and how to play the screener. And includes an interesting Circle Trap Drill that helps teach trapping and how to manage the trap in the same drill--saving you practice time.

Do you get frustrated when your players travel or miss a pull up? Dambrot shows a series of finishing moves that stress proper foot work and finishing at the basket. He shows footwork for layups with one dribble, pull up jumpers, floaters, lunges, and step-throughs. If you want your players to be able to do these skills a game, you have to practice them.

Coach Dambrot presents an exciting way to teach the game while focusing on the details needed to improve as a team and individually. This video is for coaches at just about any level, but could be very helpful for the player to understand what a coach is looking for in defensive and offensive fundamentals.

Cliff Ellis: Pressing Options Out of a 1-2-1-1
with Cliff Ellis,
Coastal Carolina Head Coach;
2009-10 Big South Coach of the Year; Over 600 career NCAA Division I wins;
Won conference championships with 4 different teams in 4 different conferences, including ACC (with Clemson) and SEC (with Auburn); named conference Coach of the Year six times in his career; National Coach of the Year in 1999

All teams at some point during the season will need to press. Are you ready to effectively pressure your opponent?

In this on court demonstration DVD, Cliff Ellis teaches you his patented 1-2-1-1 Full Court Press. Coach Ellis does a great job of describing each individual responsibility and role within the 1-2-1-1 press and the intricate details that make the press defense a successful strategy.

The cautious coach will find security in the many effective ideas that are taught on how not to get beat down the court. For the more aggressive coach, Ellis teaches how to get multiple trapping opportunities and also demonstrates a simple way to get into the press off of a missed shot.

He shows you how to start the press in a safe, conservative manner and how to pick up the tempo when your opponent least expects it. This aggressive 1-2-1-1 full court press morphs into a three-quarter court press that is sure to leave your opponents guessing as to what will come next.

You will see how to corral your opponent into a trapping situation on the first inbound pass, which will protect your players from foul trouble. Coach shows you how to teach your wings to trap and be active by taping off sections of the court, which will help wing players better understand how to move when the ball is passed. Ellis lets his middle man know how to move with the basketball. Finally he teaches his safety, or back of the zone, how to "lie in the weeds" in order to entice the ball forward for a trap.

Coach Ellis provides an in depth demonstration and teaching of his recovery method out of the press - the most important part to any press. He takes two different approaches in teaching the recovery: conservative and aggressive.

Finally, Ellis explains numerous situations that they put their players through from Day 1. He teaches his "multiply" situation in which he describes how to scramble into a secondary press if a steal occurs and a bucket is made. Ellis demonstrates how to defend any of the four basic passes out of the initial trap. He covers in detail how to switch from a conservative 1-2-1-1 full court press into an aggressive three-quarter "12 Press" when the pass is made backwards in the press. He explains how the front line should influence the ball sideline and how to take away any gap situation.

These full court defensive concepts will create panic in your opponents and allow your team to capitalize on their in-decision.

Cover: continuity offense from the inside out
Continuity Offense from the Inside Out
with Aaron Aanonsen,
Lakeland College Head Coach;
finished 2011-12 ranked 7th in the nation in scoring offense (88.5 ppg) in D-III

Discover a great compliment to motion offense!

In a clinic setting, up-and-coming coach Aaron Aanonsen uses on-court demonstrations to teach his structured, 3-out 2-in Continuity Motion Offense that uses guard-to-post and post-to-guard screens to create mismatches inside and outside. This is the same offense Lakeland used in 2011 when it lead the Northern Athletic Conference in field goal percentage and assist to turnover ratio.

Coach Aanonsen provides you with three entries--a wing entry, post entry, and a 4-high entry--that will allow your players to start the offense by reading the defense. Curls, back screens, and hand-offs within the entries help to weaken wing pressure and allow your offense to dictate the flow. Each entry continues easily into the original motion pattern.

You'll learn the Point Check, Post Check, Strong, Stay, and Cutting Game counters, or "automatics," that easily alter the predictability of a basic continuity and allow the offense to take advantage of cheating or switching defenses. Coach Aanonsen adds five quick hitters to get various players open looks, and each play returns easily to the base offense.

To complete the offensive package, Coach Aanonsen introduces a comprehensive 4-low basket in-bounds series that includes eight plays. This allows you to adjust with quick variations that don't force you to vary your start point.

When players know where their shots are coming from, they can practice shooting from predetermined positions on the floor and build offensive confidence.

This offense is good for a coach who wants some structure and control, but not the predictability or the breakdown problems of running 100% set plays. This is a college level offense that can easily be used on the high school or middle school for any coach wanting to incorporate an offensive package that will introduce structure, reduce turnovers, and produce high percentage shots.

Cover: seth greenberg: pre-practice player development drills
Seth Greenberg: Pre-Practice Player Development Drills
with Seth Greenberg,
Virginia Tech Head Coach;
2-time ACC Coach of the Year (2005, 2009)

Every coach strives to maximizing each minute of practice time. Seth Greenberg not only does this with his Virginia Tech Hokies, but he also goes beyond. In this drill oriented pre-practice player development DVD, Coach Greenberg shows you some of the key concepts and drills that he uses before practice begins to build skills, develop players and determine the best use of your practice time.

You'll see a variety of Greenberg's "Series Drills" that focus on valuable aspects of the game.

    The Cone Series - A terrific warm-up drill that works on layups, rip throughs and jump shots. This simple set of drills emphasizes little things such as catching and squaring up, turning into your shot and attacking the rim.
  • The Step-Shot Series - A great way for players to focus on the small, but essential aspects of shooting. Greenberg's emphasizes being shot-ready, using the proper footwork and creating a better, quicker shot for yourself.
Along with the basics that are constantly reinforced, Coach Greenberg adds some great shooting drills that will work out your players and let them enjoy the game as well. Coach finishes off with his ball handling sets. These drills will work out your kids and force them to become great with the basketball.

Finally Coach Greenberg will take you through several realistic shooting drills and their cutting series to give your players a game-like feel for the shots they need to take. He breaks down his "sideline shooting" drills to help your players learn how to develop a shooting rhythm and focus on the fundamental aspects of shooting.

In his Cutting Series, Coach Greenberg outlines how his players should cut within their offense. He uses these drills in order to develop a game-like flow for all of his players. You can use these drills to create more shooting opportunities instead of coming in the gym and shooting at random spots on the court.

Greenberg closes this fundamental DVD with two ball dribbling drills to improve your player's ball handling skill.

Don't miss this opportunity to use every minute of practice to bring out the potential in your players!

Cover: the ball screen motion offense
The Ball Screen Motion Offense
with Dave Paulsen,
Bucknell University Head Coach; 2011 Patriot League Coach of the Year;
2x D-III National Coach of the Year, 2003 National Championship Coach (Williams College)

Dave Paulsen shows every aspect of Bucknell's Ball Screen Motion Offense in its entirety.

With coach Paulsen's unique gift as a teacher, he takes you into his video library to learn the basics by breaking down game footage of the offense in action. These clips are an important piece to gaining a full understanding of this exciting offense.

Coach then takes his players on the court and walks them through a detailed 5-on-0 shell covering every possible situation that may occur defensively against the Ball Screen Motion Offense. He covers the three main set-ups for the offense: Side, Spread and Alley. These sets will allow your team to attack the paint from multiple angles.

You'll see six different options after the screen that either lead to a score or set you up for another ball screen scenario. Not only does it give your team multiple ways to attack, but it will turn a set play into an extremely tough motion offense.

In a 5-on-5 setting, he lets you in on even more options based on how the opposing defense may try to stop you. These walk-throughs followed by quick peeks of the lessons in action give great insight into the simplicity of the offense, but also show how effective it can be.

This is an extraordinary complement to Coach Paulsen's All Access series. This DVD could easily stand on its own, but adding it to the All Access Practice provides a "complete guide" to the Ball Screen Motion Offense!
